A Poem for Black History

underwater-1

This is for all the slaves with no progenies.
With no children, who can pass on their names.
Who will not find them listed, on Ancestry DNA

To those strung up.
Or tossed over ships.
Never given the grace of grave, nor crypt.

To those who left shores of home.
Only to never see land again.
Those who we lost, to another mans sin.

In this and every Black History Month.
Without your name or face.
Pray we still bear you in mind.

May we hold on to all of our ancestors
Remember our family, incomplete
Hold you in our spirit, until that day we all meet.
