About Me

My name is Kiah and I am the HBIC (Head Blogger In Charge). I decided to take this challenge on for many reasons. One because I am tired. Tired of the erasure of the Black Muslim experience. Muslims are constantly in the media today. However, Black Muslims, the majority of the community, are never represented. I am tired of having to justify my Muslim-ness. Not only to people who are not Muslim; but to other Muslims. I also decided to do this because I often tell others that their thoughts and words are valid. However I was not taking that serious in my own life. So this is me, living the words I give to others.

On a personal note, I am a mother of two wonderful humans. I love all things food and cooking. I love physical books and reading and hate reading apps with a passion. I became Muslim in 2009 at the age of 18. I have a B.S. in International Diplomacy and Relations with Minor in Arabic/ Asian Studies. I have a Masters in Islamic Studies with a focus on Women and Gender as well as Black and Latinx Muslims in the Americas.
